From Shower Thought to Magazine Chaos: The Birth of Cover to Cover

ree

Every great empire starts somewhere—Rome had its founders, Starbucks had a garage, and Cover to Cover Book Magazine? Well… we had a shower thought. Yep, the kind where you’re supposed to be rinsing shampoo but instead you’re plotting world domination with suds in your eyes.

I kept thinking: Why isn’t there a magazine for readers like me? Not the polished, intimidating kind, but one that’s loud, fun, bookish, and a little unhinged. Something bold. Something unapologetic. Something that says “we’re here to read, rant, and raise our glasses.”

Enter the late-night scribble sessions. Picture this: me, on the couch, hair in a messy bun, notebook on my lap, writing down every chaotic idea that popped up. Fonts, sections, cheeky titles—half of it made no sense in the moment, but it felt electric. The kind of scribbles that make you laugh at yourself the next morning but also think, wait… what if?

And then there were the dinner convos with my husband. God bless him. There we’d be—plates of tacos, a beer (or two), me going full conspiracy-board energy about fonts, contributors, and whether “Spicy Hall of Fame” was too much (spoiler: it wasn’t). He’d nod, ask questions, toss ideas, and sometimes just laugh at the sheer chaos. But every conversation pushed the dream closer to being real.

Somewhere between the shower musings, the couch scribbles, and those unhinged dinner debates, Cover to Cover was born. A magazine by a reader, for readers. Bold. Sassy. A little unbothered. And honestly? Exactly the kind of space I always wished existed in the book world.

So here we are. From shampoo thoughts to full-blown magazine. And coverbabe—we’re just getting started.
